Hey.

I’m JP. I build AI agent tooling and internal systems, and the technology that keeps conservation work running. Technical Director at Nuvio. Founder of BioAxis. Co-founder of Rhino Repro.

01 — About

Build things that ship.

I work where engineering meets biology, building practical systems for teams doing precise, hands-on work.

At Nuvio, where I’m Technical Director, I lead agent tooling and internal infrastructure. I run BioAxis, building software for veterinary, agricultural and bioscience teams. As an independent consultant I work with wildlife operators on lab tooling, data systems and field instrumentation.

I co-founded Rhino Repro in 2016 to apply assisted reproductive techniques — oocyte recovery, ICSI, cryopreservation — to South Africa’s most threatened rhino. Genetics tells us what to save; engineering builds the things that let us save it.

Interns — open source, self-hosted, drafts-only.

Interns is a self-hosted crew of persistent AI agents, built on the Claude Agent SDK and run by the Coordinator. Each intern has a name, an animated face, a job, its own memory, tools and a daily budget. You talk to them from a phone app or Discord, and they work on their own too: triaging the inbox, briefing you before meetings, reviewing pull requests, keeping track of who you owe a reply, and giving a morning standup.

Interns draft; you approve. Mail stays in drafts, and a review only publishes when you tap Approve. Open source under MIT.

Rhino Repro — a non-profit where genetics meets engineering.

Rhino Repro applies artificial reproductive techniques — oocyte recovery, ICSI, and cryopreservation — to extend the genetic future of South Africa’s most threatened megafauna. I co-founded the organisation in 2016 and continue to contribute on the engineering side: lab tooling, data, and the small instruments that make remote field work possible.

It’s where both of my degrees meet in the field: the lab work, the data, and the kit that has to survive the bush.

    Teach by reacting.

Long-press an intern's message: Perfect, Too long, Too formal, Missed the point. When four of its last ten get the same reaction, it moves its own dial, says so and offers Undo.

  • AgentsOct 2026

    My edits are lessons.

When I rewrite a draft before sending it, the intern compares the two. Two edits with the same pattern and it asks whether to make it a standing order.

  • Field2026

    Ten years of Rhino Repro.

We started in 2016. The work hasn't changed: oocyte recovery, ICSI and cryopreservation, to keep the white and black rhino's genetic future open.

  • Hybrid2026

    Two degrees, one bench.

Genetics taught me what to measure. Engineering taught me how to keep measuring when things break. Field work needs both on the same day.
